I have been playing poker now for about five years, I have bet cards my entire life starting with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various types of Brag and basic random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so gracefully called, card on head game. I used to always win, whatever casino game we were playing and although I liked to call it skill, it was extremely hard to justify thinking about the randomness of the games we were wagering, so I was over joyed to accept I was having a prolonged run of luck.
Then came Poker, or additional importantly Hold em Poker, made famous by a group of Texas card players in the sixties and since grown into one of the largest card phenomena ever experienced. Poker is absolutely the new black, it is ultra awesome with numerous of the world’s top stars racing to have their name connected with it. Just a quick scan via the TV channels nowadays and you are able to not escape from poker, and naturally there’s the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all combined into one for each and every single player.
So with all of this fresh found recognition, with so many Television shows dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves loaded up with quality material written by the top minds on poker, when are people going to learn that this casino game is all about position!?
Perhaps I must not acquire so worked up about this, after all the far more persons who wrestle with the delicate techniques and approaches required for winning consistently at Hold’em, the far better it is for everyone else, correct? I mean, if they can’t be bothered to read all of the available details about why position is so crucial, why really should we bother? We need to just be happy there is another fish at the table!
It’s true, we must not reward idleness with guidance and help. Even so, I liken this to a welcoming game of football. Granted the stakes aren’t so good, but when you observe a gambler struggling, you aid them, offer them a few advice, ultimately showing them a method to love, like and be thankful for the casino game as much as you. I am askin all house players to do exactly the same thing with their poker buddies who haven’t quite got a handle on the nuances of wagering position. Aid them to grow their respect for the casino game. Obviously, don’t attempt to try this one in your neighborhood gambling house, the sharks won’t appreciate you teaching their supper how to swim!
