The History of Poker Money

Casino chips have been made from a varied selection of materials in an almost infinite variety of styles since the creation of betting and the need to keep track of winnings. The most common materials used today in the manufacture of modern poker chips are plastic, clay, and acrylic composite. Clay chips, the primary of the group, have been manufactured in America since the late 19th century.

Back in the 1800s, poker players appear to be using any small object with value you can imagine. Early poker enthusiasts at times employed jagged gold pieces as well as chips – chiefly manufactured of wood and clay. By the 20th century, poker chip designs started to enjoy a bigger prominence, and the smooth edges of older chips were given up to chips with ridges to keep them neatly stacked with each other.

There is no debate that poker has increased constantly in universal appeal since its origin in the 19th century. With the explosive advancement of internet gambling and unique TV shows, community appeal in poker has feed the fire a lot faster than ever before. Many people are first introduced to poker by television showslike "Celebrity Poker" or the Travel Channel’s "World Poker Tour," and most will wager on their first hands on the net. Regardless of web poker’s growth, nothing competes with the feeling of shuffling heavy clay poker chips in your hand, tossing chips into the middle of a casino table, or creating tall pilesstacks of chips after showing a victorious hand.
