Mrs. Duke mightn’t have won her 1st WSOP Bracelet until two thousand and four but she is still one of the most powerful poker competitors around the cash matches at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s longawaited WSOP bracelet came with a win at the "cast aside game" of Omaha hi lo.
While players from the "younger generation" of poker go crazy following a huge win at the tables, Annie heads back home and becomes "mom" to her four children. She was born in New Hampshire and raised into a family of poker players. If you don’t believe that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who coached her how to gamble on the game.
However, Mrs. Duke is no small change girl and has succeeded at her share of challenging tables, including knocking out Howard a few times along the way. They are both competitors that have the ability to acquire the huge bucks and do so with a grin.
Annie is a strong competitor at any poker table because she is a legitimate poker player, but it’s a bit more than just being good at the game. Annie Duke is surprisingly smart and graduated from Columbia University where she took a double major in Psychology and English.
When you are seated across from her at the poker table you will see Annie Duke is there to play the game and she starts "sizing" you up from the time you join the table. If you cannot compete like a winner, then do not bother.
Acquiring over 3 million dollars in tournament play, Annie became a adviser to both the UltimateBet poker room and actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to enhance his talents and become a power at the poker table.
You might just catch a glimpse of her at the Bellagio, you’ll notice Annie on TV and you might even play against her in a cyber poker match, but don’t expect an easy win. Unless you’re a camp-in-the-making, you will not defeat her. However, it would be exciting to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
