Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

[ English ]

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve last table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers in the world. While wagering on web poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players in the world may be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be found participating in web poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha hi-low and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money games?
