NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative feedback from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
