The Importance of Poker Position

[ English ]

Hold’em is all about people and position. All experienced Texas Holdem enthusiasts agree that seating in no restriction Texas Holdem is fundamentally significant. Showing your hole cards in late spot might be much more beneficial than in early poker spot. The reason because much more information is gathered right before acting.

e.g., I was playing a $1-$2 no limit cash game at a local poker room. I came in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the dealer marker, just to see a bit of action. Flop arrived A-A-4. A gambler in early position made a $15 wager. Two players fold and it was my turn. I should have folded, but something seemed a little odd. I ID’d this individual as a weak-tight bettor, and normally if he had the best hand he would simply check, so I called.

The turn came down with a 7, meaning it was a A-A-4-7. My opposer made a further bet of $20. I debated for a while, but decided to re-raise a further $30thirty dollars over and above his $20. He folds and I won the pot.

Gambling at last position allows you an insight into where you stand by watching how individuals behave and bet. On the flip side, players at early spot could use their poker spot to check-raise the late seated aggressors and corner them later at the end. In Texas Holdem, both spots, last and early must be played carefully.
