No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five in which he enjoyed gambling on numerous card games at a young age. He found himself becoming very competitive in these card games as he was playing his father. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to put college on hold for a little bit and headed to New York City to compete in some serious chess. While competing in chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s first two years were rough as he would play countless hours and don’t win most times. He earned some additional cash by becoming an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He believed he could better his game by adjusting his life away from poker. He made an effort to acquire more rest and focus even more on poker.

The definite improvement in his skills began when he started gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best gamblers would frequently challenge one another. Howard was able to access some of the greatest players in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would tweak his strategic thinking skills. Howard applied these strategic concepts to the game of NL holdem.

He also helped his sibling Annie Duke learn poker. She was a great student of the game as she would always be asking questions about how to make the correct choice. Howard Lederer told Annie to head out to Sin City and compete in the World Series of Poker competition. Annie Duke is one of the best women players the poker world has ever seen. Howard Lederer headed to Vegas in Nineteen Ninety Three and participated in cash games for the following decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, he made the decision to compete in more tournaments.
